Essential Oil Blog Hop

Welcome to the Essential Oil Blog Hop!

Each participating blog has a different post on a number of topics, from how to use essential oils in general to actual uses and testimonials for the oils themselves. We hope that you will have some fun and learn a bit as well! If you are new to essential oils, you may want to start with some of these introductory posts:

And now for some information about diffusers.

There are many different diffusers out there that you can use. Many of them work well, but there are some really important things to keep in mind when shopping for good diffusers for essential oils:

  1. Make sure that the diffuser is labeled for essential oil use, as it will have a stronger plastic or other material base. If you plan on using citrus oils, I would highly encourage sticking with a Young Living diffuser, as they have been tested and made for this use. Citrus oils have been known to eat plastic.
  2. Do not use essential oils in heated diffusers like Scentsy or candle-heated sources. It will ruin the chemical compounds that make essential oils beneficial.
  3. Do not add essential oils to humidifiers, as it may warp the plastic or clog up the machine. Some users will take a cotton ball soaked in an essential oil and place it at the mouth of the humidifier.

When you are looking for an essential oil diffuser, here are some questions you may want answered:

  • What is the capacity of the reservoir?
  • Does is use water?
  • Can the light be turned off?
  • How long does it last before needing to be refilled?
  • Does it have an auto shut-off feature or a timer?

While we don’t have the answers to all of those questions, here are some great options (both sold by Young Living and sold elsewhere) for you:
